Going over: Cornflowers. 10 x 8 inches.
Personal project, using flowers from my local florist, Hunter Florist in Saint James's Street, Brighton. These flowers aren’t fresh enough to be used in an arrangement; they are 'going over'. I find a fragile beauty in these dying flowers, no longer sellable and otherwise destined for the bin. Flowers have long been used as a subject by painters as a symbol of memento mori, Latin for 'remember you must die'.
